Description
This wedding dress is in the very late 1930s style before war time restrictions kicked in to suppress the exuberant uses of fabric. Very heavy candlelit satin in ivory with a fitted bodice to low waist, extremely full skirting and a very long train (see second photo). A huge amount of covered buttons down the back and a few on each sleeve as well; all buttons are present and in good condition. The very top of the bodice has sheer netting edged in a fine floral lace like a bertha collar, and each hip has double satin panniers also lace edged. There are breaks in the lace in a couple of places but it's difficult to see as the lace is very gathered. The dress itself has only recently gotten flecked with tea colored spots all over, and the train does have some smudges where a clumsy groom may have trod on it. I do not know if the spots all over the dress will dry clean off as they are a recent development. It was pristine when I got it and I am devastated at the change. For this reason I am discounting this dress to 0 down from 5. It could certainly be overdyed to a tan or darker color, or as I said the spots might dry clean out. Measures 34 bust, 28 waist and 36 hips, with an overall length of 60 inches in front and much longer in back with the train.
