    To introduce its low-fare, no-frills flights, Continental Airlines started a “Peanuts Fares

    promotion in late 1993.

    saved customers at least 50 percent, and sometimes as much as 80 percent off fares offered by competing airlines.  These fares were available on every flight on every day without advance purchase and were fully refundable without penalty.
