This is a beautiful designer gown worn in 1951. My photos were taken with the dress hung up high. While you can see the lovely details, my photos do not show how gorgeous this dress really is. I was fortunate to get a picture of the lovely bride actually wearing this gown. You can see the dress itself is floor length, I measured about 53” from the neckline down to the floor. The rest of the gown sweeps into a stunning train. The dress is an ivory satin with lace and sheer netting at the bodice. It has long sleeves with satin and lace cuffs that button with satin covered buttons which mimic the satin covered buttons that go down the length of the back. A back pleat with lace gives fullness to the train. This is a Miriam of New York Original and was purchased at the Donenfeld Co, a high fashion women’s clothing store back in the day, in Dayton, Ohio. There is no size listed in the dress. The waist measures about 12” straight across so about a 24”. The shoulders are about 18” straight across. Given the measurements it is about a 4-6. It is in really good condition for it’s age. I see no rips or tears. It has been in storage all of this time. I have not had it cleaned or pressed, leaving that up to the new owner.
