For your consideration is this beautiful Intra War M1931 Guidon for "E" BTRY, 2nd BN, 148th Field Artillery Regiment. This piece was manufactured by the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot and dated 1934.
This piece is made of wool bunting with linen appliqué. There is minor mothing & the leather tabs are brittle. The PQMD tag is marked for the inspector "B. McNalley" & dated "SEP 17, 1934".
This guidon measures 19-1/2" by 27-3/4". This is a single sided piece made of wool bunting and linen appliqué cannon, 148, and E.
This is a Philadelphia QM Depot piece date 1934. There is moth nips and a 2" snag at the bottom swallowtail. The PQMD tag is in the bottom sleeve.

Organized June–August 1877 from new or existing companies of the Idaho Militia.
Elements in the northern territory (Lewiston and Mt. Idaho companies) withdrawn and with the addition of existing independent companies and new companies, organized 17 September 1877 as the 2nd regiment Idaho Volunteer Militia.
1st and 2nd Regiments Idaho Volunteer Militia disbanded 1 March 1879.
1st and 2nd Regiments reconstituted and reorganized 1889-1891 in the Idaho National Guard as the 1st Regiment to include old and new companies over the state (Companies A - F organized or reorganized 1889-1890 in the southern area; Companies G - L organized or reorganized 1891 in the northern area)

1st Infantry Regiment mustered into federal service 7–18 May 1898 at Boise as the 1st Idaho Volunteer Infantry. Mustered out 25 September 1899 at the Presidio of San Francisco, California.
Reorganized and redesignated in 1899 as the 2nd infantry (Companies reorganized over state 1899-1903).
Mustered into federal service 3–6 July at Boise Barracks for Mexican Border duty. Mustered out and reverted to state control 26 January 1917.

Regiment broken up, reorganized and redesignated as elements of the 41st Infantry Division as follows:
• 1st Battalion redesignated 1 October 1917 as the 146th Field Artillery Regiment (United States)
• 2nd Battalion redesignated 12 November 1917 as the 2nd Battalion, 116th Engineers
• 3rd Battalion redesignated 5 October 1917 as the 146th Machine Gun Battalion.
Elements demobilized in 1919 as follows:
• 1st Battalion, 146th Field Artillery, on 26 June 1919 at Fort D. A. Russell, Wyoming.
• 2nd Battalion, 116th Engineers, on 1 March 1919 at Camp Dix, New jersey.
• 146th Machine gun Battalion, on 3 April 1919 at Camp Funston, Kansas.
Northern elements organized in the Idaho National Guard as 1st Battalion 148th Field Artillery and federally recognized 15 March 1926 with headquarters at Coeur d'Alene assigned to the 41st Infantry Division 3 January 1930.
Inducted into federal service 16 September 1940 at Boise
Until September 1940, the 148th Field Artillery consisted of two national guard battalions: 1st Battalion, Idaho National Guard, and 2nd Battalion, Washington National Guard. On the first of that month, 2nd Battalion, including HQ and HQ Battery and firing Batteries D, E, and F, and the regimental Medical Detachment, were transferred to the 248th Coast Artillery, Washington National Guard, becoming similar elements in that seacoast defense formation.

The 248th Coast Artillery Regiment was a Coast Artillery Corps regiment in the Washington National Guard. Including its predecessor battalion, it garrisoned the Harbor Defenses of Puget Sound (HD Puget Sound), Washington 1924–1944.
The 248th Coast Artillery was organized as a battalion 1 May 1924 as the Washington National Guard component of the Harbor Defenses of Puget Sound (HD Puget Sound), Washington. The 14th Coast Artillery was the Regular Army component of those defenses. The 248th's primary armory was in Tacoma, Washington. In May 1944 the regiment was inactivated.
Organized as a battalion 1 May 1924 by redesignating the 1st Battalion, 248th Artillery, Coast Artillery Corps, Washington National Guard as the 1st Battalion, 248th Coast Artillery (Harbor Defense) (HD). Redesignated as the 248th Coast Artillery (HD) Battalion 1 October 1933. Expanded to a regiment and redesignated as the 248th Coast Artillery (HD) Regiment 1 September 1935.
On 16 September 1940 the regiment was inducted into federal service at Tacoma, Washington and moved to Fort Worden in HD Puget Sound 23 September 1940. On induction the unit was filled out by redesignating Washington National Guard elements of the 148th Field Artillery Regiment, which made up over half of the 248th.
On 25 April 1944 the regiment moved to Camp Barkeley, Texas where inactivated 8 May 1944.
