Here's the
Extremely Rare 1967 Pete Fountain's Half-Fast Walking Club (HAS) Plain Aluminum 10g
Doubloon.
The doubloon measures 39 mm or 1 1/2" in diameter and is in
Excellent Condition

Note:  The obverse features the Pete Fountain Logo. The reverse features a Norseman and reads "SALUTING AMERICAN NORSEMEN...MARDI GRAS...NEW ORLEANS...1967
."  This doubloon was designed by H. Alvin Sharpe, the creator of the Mardi Gras Doubloon, and bears his familiar 'HAS' initials.  The doubloon was struck on the very thick 10g (10 gauge) planchette, enhancing the design details and beauty of the doubloon.  Pete Fountain's Half-Fast Walking Club is a New Orleans Area Walking Club which participates in the Mardi Gras Day Walking Club Parade and also St. Patrick's Day and the Irish-Italian Parades in New Orleans.  Founded in 1961, Pete Fountain lead his members along the Uptown St. Charles Avenue Parade Route and through the French Quarter every Mardi Gras Day each year...until 2017.  Sadly, Pete passed away last year and His Magical Clarinet and Smile failed to make the 2017 Mardi Gras Day Parade.  Most of the 1967 Pete Fountain Plain Aluminum doubloons were struck on the thin 15g (15 gauge) planchettes, however a scant few were struck on the thick 10g (10 gauge) planchette.  These 1967 Plain Aluminum 10g doubloons are extremely rare.  This doubloon still retains most all of its original luster, is much nicer than it appears in the photos and is in Near Pristine Condition.
